Welcome to the inugral edition of: “What does Oppo think of this...” A daily, bi-daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or whenever-the-hell-I-feel-like-it, series of posts in which I post a car for sale and you all tell me your impressions!
Today’s vehicle: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Now, Dodge and Audi are my favorite makes, so be expecting many of both.
This A3 is equiped with the 2.0t Turbo, a 6-speed manual, and FWD. The turbocharged inline 4 produces 200 hp @5100 RPM, and 207 lb-ft of torque @ 1800 rpm. It gets an estimated 23/32 MPG. It shoots to highway speed in (supposedly) sub 6 seconds.
So Oppo, what do you think of this 2007 Audi A3?

Dont know much about the audi but if you havent done business with them before, BMW of Minnetonka is pretty good. Helped my mother pick out a 550i there. Also nearly purchase an 08 E90 M3 there is summer, but someone beat me to the deposit by like an hour.

Nay.
If you’re going to buy an A3, get the 3.2 VR6. It’s a rebadged mk5 Golf R32. You’ll have to put up with the mediocre DSG transmission, but that delicious exhaust note is more than worth it.

As much as I would love that, its a bit out of my price range. What I am currently looking for in a vehicle is: under 10k, manual, wagon/hatch, and German.

Two years older but you get AWD, a six speed manual out of the S60R/V70R, 218 hp from a great sounding 2.5L turbo 5 but zero to sixty in about 6.8 seconds (yes, slow...) and economy is weak to say in the least at 17/25 MPG...
For me it’s hard to argue with these looks though...so well proportioned, looks like a mini-V70...
Here’s another if you prefer the Clava wheels over the Sagittas...

Nice! I have a manual AWD wagon planned for posting tomorrow, but VOLVO!

VR6? I’ve driven a 3.2 S-Line. I thought it was a V6?!

These cars are gorgeous but there is just no way they get to 60 in under 6 seconds! Maybe the highest trim level? These are heavy cars

Exactly my thoughts. The 2.0 is by no means a major powerhouse...

we love our 2010 TDI. (YEA DIESEL, SUCK IT EMISSIONS ASSHOLES)
the 2.0L is strong. it makes torque EVERYWHERE. try it before you knock tht 0-60 time.

Yep, I have the same engine in my A4 and it’s nowhere near 6s to 60, although I will say it has very sweet spots once you’re already rolling in most of 2nd and the bottom of 3rd. Quattro doesn’t really help the launch, so this could be quite a bit quicker with a very aggressive launch, but still not under 6.
Cars have gotten so much quicker in the past few years, my used-to-be-pretty-quick A4 can barely take on base midsize sedans now :(

basically a stealth GTI

Invisible GTI.
I’d say you can do a lot worse. Not sure how these hold up after a some miles, though, maybe there’s some A3 owners among us?

nope.

I made the same mistake when I first read the spec sheet.
Audi’s with longitudinally-mounted engines used an Audi-exclusive 3.2 V6. But the transverse A3 is too small to fit a 90-degree V6. Enter VW’s clever narrow angle VR6 that sounds like Chewbacca gargling hammers!

Why? Just curious.

basically , basic servicing is ok price wise , but in my experience with Audi & VW group products in general , they’re very high maintenance , and the prices aren’t cheap. (i work at Holden/Subaru/Audi dealer in parts department)

buy a Subaru (if you like leaking head gaskets on some models) , or better still a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0L manual.
can you guess what I drive?
